About the Role: As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a crucial role in patient care by preparing and administering radioactive drugs for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Prepare and administer radioactive drugs (radiopharmaceuticals) for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures.
- Operate imaging equipment such as PET and SPECT scanners to capture images of organs and tissues.
- Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort and safety during imaging sessions.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals and take necessary precautions.
- Maintain and calibrate nuclear medicine equipment to ensure accurate imaging and safety compliance.
- Follow strict radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure for patients, staff, and oneself.
- Analyze images and assist radiologists or nuclear medicine physicians in interpreting results.
- Maintain detailed patient records, including dosage calculations and imaging reports.
- Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and national regulatory standards for nuclear medicine.
