About the Role: As a Registrar in General Surgery, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality surgical care to patients, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
What You'll Be Doing: - Conduct comprehensive pre-operative evaluations of surgical patients, including history-taking, physical examinations, and review of diagnostic tests and imaging studies. - Assist attending surgeons in the operating room by scrubbing in, assisting with surgical procedures, and providing perioperative care to patients. - Manage post-operative patients, including monitoring their recovery, assessing surgical wounds, managing pain, and addressing any complications that may arise. - Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and case discussions to contribute to patient management and decision-making. - Provide outpatient clinic consultations and follow-up care for surgical patients, including assessment of surgical outcomes and management of post-operative issues. - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, residents, nurses, and allied health staff, to ensure comprehensive patient care and continuity of services. - Participate in on-call duties as scheduled, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to provide emergency surgical care and coverage. - Engage in teaching and supervision of medical students, junior residents, and other healthcare professionals, as appropriate.
