Make a Difference in Patient Care: As a Pediatric Intensivist, you will provide specialized medical care for critically ill or injured children in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
How You'll Contribute: - Assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of serious conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, and organ failure in children. - Manage and monitor life-support systems, including mechanical ventilation, ECMO, and other intensive therapies. - Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including pediatric surgeons, nurses, and respiratory therapists. - Perform invasive procedures, such as central line placement, intubation, and lumbar punctures, when necessary. - Provide continuous monitoring of pediatric patients' vital signs, adjusting treatments and interventions as required. - Communicate effectively with patients' families, providing updates on the child's condition and offering emotional support during critical care. - Conduct rounds in the PICU to assess the progress of patients and make adjustments to care plans. - Stay updated on the latest advances in pediatric intensive care medicine through continuing education and research.
